Pat and Joan Mahon are retired educators. They live in Young Harris, GA (NE Georgia), go to church in close by North Carolina, and spend a good part of the year in Titusville, FL. They have coordinated a Pax Christi group at their sister churches in Murphy and Hayesville, NC. In retirement, they are committing their time and efforts to peace making and justice seeking. In 2007, they traveled to Ireland where they studied the peace process in Northern Ireland during a visit to Belfast. In 2008, they joined a Methodist study group and traveled to Israel Palestine where they learned much more about the complex issues involved in that conflict. In 2009, they will have traveled to their North Carolina churches sister community in Somotillo, Nicaragua. Pat is involved in giving classes, workshops and retreats on nonviolence. Since they started playing Snowbirds in Florida, they have enjoyed their association with Pax Christi Florida. They are pleased and honored to serve on the State Council.
